Traffic Generation Principles When you discuss and grasp Traffic Generation Principles you enter a wide array of topics, philosophies, and diverse strategies. What path you take depends on your comfort level, your ability to reach beyond your comfort levels, and your daily plan. I like to look at Traffic generation from two different defining principles: What is your attitude about Traffic Generation Techniques related to Traffic Generation We can spend hours upon hours teaching you every traffic technique under the sun. We can teach you the ins and outs of every technique, the do's and the don'ts. We can expose you to all the dirty little tricks and we will. Ha Ha.. but knowing how to use those techniques. Knowing the ins and outs of every technique Knowing the do's and the don'ts of these techniques Knowing the dirty little tricks that only experience teaches you Knowing and learning all the time saving, money saving short-cuts that you learn through experience Do not mount to a hill of beans, if you do not get the big picture of traffic generation. (By the way, if you are thinking this, then we need to work on your mindset) We spend a lot of time on the big picture, because to be blunt, we need to expand your limited minds. As you read about the possibilities available for making money on the internet..... You need to put yourself in that end position. How does it feel to have learned all this knowledge, and have all that cash rolling in? Can you imagine? How good does it feel? Knowing that you are financially secure? That you have learned all the techniques, you have expanded your mind, that the once unobtainable has been obtained. How does it feel to look back and see how stubborn you were. How does it feel, to realize how much further you would be, if you had just listened. If you had just imagined when I asked you to imagine. If you had just played the game as an active participant. That is the bottom-line. To succeed you have to play the game. You have to show up for practice everyday. If you want to bat .343 then you need to show up 1/2 hour early, and stay 1/2 hour later for just a few more swings at the ball, watch a couple more training videos, listen to one more motivational audio. That is it in a nutshell. If you play on my team and play to win, you will. If you want to treat this profession as a hobby, and only put your toe in the water, that is exactly what you will get, a burned toe, because the water is hot, and it takes awhile for your mind, your body, and your beliefs to acclimate. So let's get back to the basics. Understanding the individual techniques is useless if you can't see the forest through the trees. The big traffic picture is just as important as knowing how to write and submit articles. The big traffic picture is just as important as knowing how to maintain a blog that is read. The Big traffic picture is just as important as.....      I think you should get it by now. Actually, I think the big picture is more important, and that is why I spend so much time on making sure you can see the panoramic view of where we are going. That is why I spend so much time emphasizing the beauty and magnificence of not only seeing, but being in, feeling the feelings you feel, seeing the things you see, and hearing the things you hear when you are there at the big picture. You have principles and then you have techniques. Most people will teach you the techniques.. but most of the time you fail at applying those techniques because you have not mastered the basics, you don't understand the underlying principles, and how those techniques fit into the jigsaw puzzle of traffic generation. You end up with extra pieces and nowhere to put them, and a puzzle that you just can't seem to make out what the picture is. Traffic generation is not a mystery, cloaked in a dark shroud traveling by night. It is not a secret protected by the magicians code  of  secrecy. The art of traffic generation is not hidden in a secret cavern, protected by the masons. It is out there for all to read, to see, to benfit from. Unfortunately, successful traffic generation is based on one item that 75% of the population lacks..... Common Sense and applying analytical testing procedures. It is not that they do not have Common Sense, they fail to use the common sense they have, because it is too simple. Common Sense tells you that if someone tells you that you can make 250% interest offshore, that it is a scam, yet billions of dollars a year are invested in offshore scams. Are all offshore investments a scam.  By all means no. Can you get a higher return offshore. Yes, you can. But 250% a year, when local banks are paying 3%. Your greed has overcome your common sense. Common sense tells me that if someone tells me I can make a million dollars by joining this program or that program, and you don't have to sponsor anyone, and in fact,  it is easy, and you can do it part time. Something ain't right. There is no such program. They don't exit. It is no wonder 98% of the people who start a home based business fail. They have unrealistic expectations based on Greed and the desire to take the easy way out. Ask me how I know? LOL. I have been there, done that, have a closet full of T-Shirts. This leads me to the 2nd principle of successful traffic generation. Most people fail at driving traffic, simply because they don't try consistently and long enough for traffic to happen. Traffic is not an overnight accomplishment. You can't join a program sit back and wait for your million visitors. Generating traffic is not  a set and forget trial. Now besides quitting before the results come to the surface,  lack of common sense and having analytical testing process's in place, people fail at traffic generation because they do not see the big picture and do not have a plan to obtain the big picture. Why? You guessed it, they never took the time to see it to start with. Having a plan and not only seeing but understanding the purpose and composite of the big picture will bring more effectiveness and efficiency to your traffic generation efforts. So let's take a second. Sit back and relax. Look at the traffic generation Flowchart Below: Your traffic generation plan is nothing more that a set of techniques that you implement and organize in an order to achieve your goal. It is a recipe for success. It is your blueprint for driving traffic to your Internet system. Your plan should always be evolving and the blueprint has to remain somewhat dynamic. All that means is that we will tweak it and improve on it as your learnings grow and you outlast your learning and testing curves. Your plan is a plan that you will develop on a step by step basis. You didn't have to follow Marks advise. You didn't have to create check lists, and develop plans for your business, you could have followed the lazy path of many students who have fallen by the wayside. You didn't have to think long term as Mark advised. It makes your pride well up, as you think about how tedious some of Marks assignments were, but you did them step by step in detail anyhow. We will then split each technique into different executable steps. This process serves three purposes and probably more, but my mind is not thinking beyond these three at the moment. Organizes you and gives you a checklist Provides you a "Standard operating Procedure" for your future outsourcing staff Provides you an operating manual that will provide you material to develop future products to sell as you get established For Instance: Write an quality article Make 4 versions of this article Submit 1 version to the article directories Post 1 version to your blog Post a version to my main website Post another version O Social Marketing sites Make a Powerpoint and video on the same article Post to video sites Bookmark the blog, the website article on social bookmarking sites, Digg, Stumble upon, tchnorati as many as you join Of course, you can expand this list to more detail. Add the software instructions to use, location of the software, How to use the software, all your user names and passwords of the sites, etc. This then is the detailed process of automating the accomplishments of these daily tasks. You can add as many tasks and steps as you like. The more detailed you become the closer you are to an e-book, a course, outsourcing manual, and bottom-line MO MONEY. Developing this plan sets the stage for following the plan consistently and developing consistent results.  Once you have the plan developed. You no longer can blame anyone for not following the process and the miserable results you obtain. If you detail each technique with a plan like this, and then consistently implement your plan..... The chance of you failing drops from 98% all                                                                          the                                                                          way                                                                           down                                                                           to                                                                            1% Now which position would you rather be in. 1% chance of failure or 98% chance. Well, DUH! you say........ It is obvious which one category percentage you want to be in. The question is? Will you do the work and take the time to do the assignments I give you? Will you take the time now to build your infrastructure for the long term? Will you attack this with long term business thinking and planning as advised, or will you fail to plan, and thus plan to fail. Are you going to be in the 1% group or the 98% group? Drawing up plans and SOP's - Standard operating procedures are fundamental to your success.  Do it.... or Fail. Finally,  now that you have a plan, you can't just sit back and relax and wait for things to happen. You need to track each source of traffic to see which techniques are working and which ones are not. If you don't test and track, you won't know what tweak to improve your results. This process should be setup as part of your plan also. Once you have your results, lets say 100-200 visitors a week, now we will go back to step 1 and improve the plan and the blueprint, add steps and necessary processes that we left off the first time. Now raise your objectives.. lets say 200 visitors a day. To accomplish this, you will probably need to add a new technique or two or three to the plan, but that is how you will gain a consistent upward growth of traffic to your site. Now all this may seem very time consuming.  Sorry, you are right it is. But, let's step 6 months to a year into the future. Comon.... Comon... Play with me here. I am not doing this for me.... I am doing this for you... If you think it is corny, think how I feel. The problem with it, is what I am doing works. The process I am taking you through will catapult your thinking to new levels. It will expand your mind. If you will just play along with me.... You will be amazed at how impactful these exercises will be in your life. it is OK to think what you are thinking.... In the meantime, Play along. It can't hurt. I t can only help, no matter how silly it seems. OK 6 months to a year in the future. You pick up the binder on your desk, with your master traffic plans in it. You have built the traffic to your first site to over 30,000 visitors a month. As you page, through the pages and look at your notes, you realize that even though Mark dragged you through the process kicking and screaming....   You now have a complete set of plans that brought your current website from non-existence to 30,000 unique visitors a month.   Your mind starts to move on to your next three projects that you have planned and all of a sudden a light goes on in your head.... and that big huge smile that you are famous for, graces your face. In fact, as you realize that you are smiling, you realize that yo have the biggest smile  you have ever experienced on your face. You were just hit with the realization that what you have in your hands, does not have to be redeveloped for the next project.   All you have to do is apply the Operating procedures that you already developed, tested, and implemented. For your new project all you have to do, is walk over to the copy machine, and push start. Of course, you will still test these procedures with each new project, but you already have a step by step procedure to traffic. Job Well done. Now, don't get upset or afraid when you don't get the same results with a new project. There are things that you don't control. Markets are a little bit different. Visitors behave differently as economic times change, target audiences change... but there is something that never changes, and that is Visitors.   Generating unique visitors start with the conception of the site, and continue through the building of the site. So conceive the site with your customers needs and expectations in mind. You should build it so that it matches your visitors behaviors and attitudes. To accomplish this you must monitor and analyze places where your customers visit such as blogs, forums etc. Then you simply revert to these sources when you want to drive traffic. Your plan is the best way to cover these different behaviors and variables. You must then adapt it to the the different situations. Having your plan developed already to start your second project is a huge asset, and it will make you much more effective from the very beginning of your next site building efforts. The last thought I want to cover, is highly overlooked principle of traffic generation and of all the principles and processes of traffic generation, this is the most important thought to embed in your mind.    Traffic is not created, it is only re-directed.
