Internet Marketing Plan
Lesson 2 

Welcome to Lesson 2.

In Lesson  1, 

• We learned a little about the overall aspect of Internet Marketing, and what can expect from our efforts.
• We setup a working directory structure so we stay organized
• We learned how to download files from the Internet and showed you where to put them
• We started to do weekly reading and improving our copy writing skills
• We setup our Go Daddy Domain account and over viewed the functionality
• We also setup our hosting account and over viewed Cpanel
• We showed you how to add a domain to your hosting account and to setup your e-mail accounts
• Then we ended with a mindset reading.

In Lesson 2, as with Lesson 1, we are giving access to all levels of the lesson, whether you are a guest or a basic member.

In lesson 2, I will introduce a new feature of the course, "Learn form the Millionaire's". This section will appear from time to time in your lessons. This section will contain audio interviews and sometimes videos by Internet millionaires that will expand your concepts of Internet marketing and give you other perspectives other than what I offer.

These are very critical to your learning, so please do not take them lightly. I may or may not want you to implement what they talk about at that time, but I still want to fill your head with information along the way.

At some point, it will all click and you will see the completed jigsaw picture in front of your eyes... and you will remember a lot of what you heard and it will all mesh in with what you are being taught.

By the time you  finish Lesson 2,  you will have started the following needed accounts:

• Downloaded and opened an FTP program
• Overview how to use your new FTP program
• You will have downloaded an HTML editor
• Viewed an overview on how to use the editor
• First lesson in understanding html

 So let's get started 

Step 1: Learn From the Millionaires

 

Because marketing is the key to making money on the Internet, I want to Introduce to you,  Joe Sugarman.  Joe is our guest expert in this lesson. 

Joe Sugarman, teaches you the secrets from inside the world of big time direct marketing (TV, catalogs, direct main, print ads, etc.) that you will never learn from anyone else. 

He is a pro. He has made millions in his direct marketing efforts.

Though we are concentrating on Internet marketing, you can learn an enormous amount from Joe.

When you are marketing on the Internet, the concepts of Direct Marketing are identical to Internet marketing. The difference is that your direct marketing pieces are now on a web page, rather than sent by US mail and you have to drive traffic to your website.

The sales letter on the Internet will incorporate all of the elements of a direct marketing piece. The advantage of the Internet is the ability to incorporate color (cost prohibitive in Direct Mail), a greater level of Interactivity,  Motion, Voice, and the addition of video which obviously makes the Internet platform heads down the medium of choice for Direct Marketing.

Step 2: Download an FTP Program and Install it

In order to create web pages and to load them on our hosting account, you must use a software program called FTP.

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol.

A FTP program communicates with your Hostmonster server and allows you to upload and download files, as if they were on your desktop.

There are numerous free FTP programs available on the Internet.

Now many of your HTML editors like seamonkey, and your website builder which we will download later,  have built in FTP programs and we will be showing you how to use the built in editors later in this lesson.

 At times though, it is easier to upload files from a stand alone FTP program and so I am going to show you how to use a Standalone FTP client first, and in the next step, we will upload and download some files, just so you can see how it works..

Step 3:  How to Setup and Use Filezilla

In Step 2, We downloaded and installed the Ftp program called Filezilla. In this step, I will show you how to setup your site manager to login to your Hostmonster Account, and how to upload files and download files.

In order to setup Filezilla, you need to find the activation e-mail you received from Hostmonster. This e-mail contains all the information needed to setup your FTP server.  If you followed my instructions in an earlier video, you should have created a text file in your Internet Business folder called "Hostmonster Login Info". If you did not do that earlier, Go ahead and do it now.

Now let's setup Filezilla for usage with your Hostmonster Hosting account.

Step 5: Let's Explore the SeaMonkey's Functionality

In lesson 5, we will start to explore the capabilities of SeaMonkey and HTML editors

If you have used Word, you can use a HTML editor and build a website. HTML editors take it a step further. Not only can you view the WYSIWYG view, as in word. You can also look at and change the underlying HTML code.

That is exactly what we do in this lesson. We will find a web page that we like on the web. We will view the source code of that page and save it to our swipe file, for later usage. You will then learn to save all the pictures and images from that page and start building our web development library.

Explore the Functionality of SeaMonkey Video

In this lesson, you are going to explore three web pages and investigate the underlying HTML.

As you explore each site, you need to save the source and any graphics to your swipe files, so that you can recreate the page in your swipe file.

Once you have created the site in your swipe file, you should be able to hit preview and then browse. The site should look just like the original.

If it does not look the same, figure out why not.

Site 1: Let's start with one of my adsense sites:

See if you can answer the following questions.

1. How many images are on the page?
2. This is advanced, but can you figure out what my adsense publisher number is?
3. What is the actual name of the header graphic?
4. What are the Meta keywords for this page?
5. What is the Meta Description for this page?
6. Were you able to duplicate the page in your advertising swipe file?

Step 7: Let's See How Good You Are?

In this step, I will look at each file in detail and let's see how good you are?
